Here's To Them All.

With bountiful brews from which to choose, perhaps the path to pleasing the palate is to simply enjoy them all. Happy Oktoberfest!

Monday Night Football Recap, The Etsy Edition.

Last night was an NFL double header...6 hours of testosterone-packed action...and we're still pumped! However, we realize that our softer side needs nurturing. So here are a few highlights from the Etsy gridiron:

Dolphins vs. Patriots:

Print, from Berkley Illustration.

Vintage white shorts, from Zwzzy.

Broncos vs. Raiders:

Vintage weathervane, from Goree Lane.

The First Step.

After sustaining a minor back injury (following a rather laughable attempt to avoid a moth flying directly towards my head), I figured it was time to work on my flexibility. So needless to say, today, I begin my stretching regimen.

Theme Of The Week: Typography.

Written communication is more than just words on paper. Certain fonts can elicit an emotional response. Even point size can sway a reader's opinion. In short, typography dictates how your message is received.

"Lost and Found" art print, from Chris Waind.

While we're not typeface elitists, we definitely appreciate the artistry behind well-executed typography. More often than not, the intended message comes through loud and clear.

Silkscreened poster, from Strawberry Luna.

This week, we're bringing you our favorite typography-centric finds. Whether it's an industrial set of vintage letterpress numbers or an embroidered homage to the lesser-loved fonts, we're pretty sure you'll fall in love with the written, printed and forged word--one distinct letter at a time.

Fresh Shop: Miniature Trapdoor.

Satellite dishes, mountain men and sponges aren't your typical watercolor inspirations. But that's what we love about Miniature Trapdoor, a fresh Etsy shop out of Brooklyn, New York. Their atypical subjects will certainly have you questioning what's art and what's not. Who knew an electrical socket could be so thought-provoking?

Using Etsy's "Pounce" To Discover Fresh Shops.

On Monday, we mentioned Etsy's "Pounce" feature and how cool of a navigational tool it is--especially when looking for undiscovered shops (i.e. shops without a sale). Today, we did a little pouncing ourselves. Here's what we found:

Crochet number poster, from The Crochet Factory.

"Opening" photograph, from Elemental Eye Photo.

"Simplify" embroidery, from Soul Seeds.

Fresh Shop: One Story Studio.

We're loving One Story Studio, a fresh Etsy shop out of Portland, Oregon. But what's not to love about beautifully-minimalist and slightly geometric art prints?

"Thirteen Kites", $20.

"The Conductor No. 1", $35.

"Story of Giovanni No. 7", $50.

"Grounding", $25.

So pay a visit to One Story Studio and get some eye-catching art for your home. But hurry...especially if you want to be the first to own one of their prints. We have a feeling this undiscovered shop won't stay undiscovered for too long!

Orange Fall Blitz.

Today's finds were featured in one of Jody's recent Etsy treasuries. I like the subtle orange touch--easier on the eyes than the typical all-out pumpkin bonanza. Mostly though, I like the fact that her treasury was titled, "Mod Pumpkin". That's just plain cute!

Candy corn dress, from Little Ticket.

Geometric pillow, from Mazizmuse.

Bicycle photo print, from Raceytay.

"Spectrum Series" print, from Atomic Lodge.

Theme Of The Week: Back To School.

August is here and the summer is dwindling. Last-minute vacations are in the works. School supplies are stockpiled on the living room table. New outfits are being planned (and re-planned). In short, the end is near...

Art print, from Mommy Makes.

But fear not, jaded youth! All this week, we're bringing you the biggest, brightest and bestest "Back To School" finds!  It'll be so awesome, you'll be itching to get back in that classroom...we promise!

Art For The Hirsute Dad.

"The Illustrated Man", from The Black Apple.

"The Captain" silhouette print, from The Little Chickadee.

"Barnard", from Ashley G.

"In My Own Way" print, from Sadly Harmless.

Dads have hair in weird places: the back, the shoulders, even inside the ears. But we shouldn't condemn our hairy dads. Nay, I say! They are simply the victims of an evolutionary oddity. I mean seriously, why would anyone need hair on their shoulders?

It's time to honor the hirsute dads of this world! And to those dads sporting mustaches and beards for decades upon decades, we salute you. For you, my friends, are the true pioneers.

Part of our "Gifts For Dad" series. Father's Day is this Sunday--be sure to give your hairy dad a big 'ol hug!

This One's For You, Mom.

"A Hard Day" 8 x 10 print, from Amber Alexander.

Your mom has experienced her share of taxing days. Sure, you were a little kid at the time and oblivious to the stress your mom was under. But know this: making your lunches, picking you up from soccer practice, helping you with your school projects and keeping your hyper antics in check weren't easy. But somehow, your mom did it all.

So this Sunday, make sure you give your mom a hug and tell her "thanks". And while you're at it, bring her a bottle of wine and leave her alone for a few hours. She's earned this moment of solitude.

Royal Tea.

"Teapots" A4 print, from Laura Amiss.

With all the hubbub surrounding Will and Kate's big day, we couldn't resist showcasing this lovely tea-inspired print from Laura Amiss. Her shop is filled with cute and colorful prints, textiles and several absolutely adorable embroidered canvas pieces (like this one)--all based on her own original designs and illustrations. Cheers!

Hello, Loverboy.

"Sailor Girl" giclee print, from Hellomarine.

Pop meets Art Nouveau in one of our new favorite Etsy shops, Hellomarine. We're fond of this cute little sailor girl (above), but we're seriously thinking about making some space on our wall for "Volta".

Down By The Water.

"Dark Seas" sewn print, from Tastes Orangey.

Changing your shirt, sitting by the water, laying in bed (with a pillow over your face)...moments where your mind is somewhere else, and your body is on auto-pilot. These are the "in between" moments captured so lovingly by one of our favorite artists, Tastes Orangey.

Many of Tastes Orangey's paintings and prints, like "Dark Seas" above, come with a sewn border too--an extra touch that frames each candid moment beautifully.
